hey hipsters, hope you all are doing great 🙂 fall is officially over and it’s sweater weather again 🙂 I absolutely love snuggling with a mug of hot tea and some warm cookies. well, who doesn’t? apart from all the snuggling and late mornings, the reason why I love sweater weather so much is I can hide my flab under those baggy sweats and not care at all. who all thought been there, done that? 😛
This November, i thought why hide? why not work out and get fit? what was keeping me away from getting fit other than the excuses i gave myself? and then it hit me that i lacked motivation. every time I’d start, I quit after a while. I wanted some company. that’s when my virtual friends over Instagram came to my rescue. They were ready to workout with me 🙂 [ psssst… if you don’t follow me on Instagram already, you should 🙂 ]
excercise+healty lifestyle= fit life!
looks like a simple mantra. i was determined to follow this seriously. my only set back was i loved my carbs way too much. guilty as charged but i just couldn’t do without carbs! That’s when i started looking for healthy recipes and healthy alternatives.
i was looking for a better carb source other than white rice and came across red rice. immediately i was on amazon looking for red rice.
Popular essentials, a brand catering to Indian grocery needs had a variety of options. They have every kitchen essential that you need to cook a lovely meal. i literally brought every item i laid eyes on! i’m not even kidding! amazon did a great job in getting it delivered the next day.
it was time to test new healthy recipes 🙂
red rice is a great source of fibre, vitamin b, iron etc. it’s enriched with antioxidants that can help fight damaging free radicals in our body. i was super happy with how this turned out. takes a little longer than white rice to cook but filled my cravings.
with a nutty flavour, red rice is your best bet if you are looking for healthy options. with a side of veggies and cottage cheese, this meal literally bought a smile on my face.
like i mentioned earlier, popular essentials has a wide variety of grocery and I’d bought a couple of different variants of rice. Being a south Indian it’s no surprise that my family loves pulav/biryani. i got 2 bags of basmati for my rice loving family. peas pulav is an absolute favorite. we had to try this recipe with the popular essentials basmati.
if you like fragrant rice then you’ll fall in love with this basmati rice. basmati is known to have a low GI compared to regular rice which makes it more preferable in the indian kitchen. it’s also high on fibre keeping you full for a longer period. the long grains, when cooked with aromats, is a complete delicacy. This dish filled the entire place with a fragrance that made everyone hungry.
Check Amazon for more deals from popular essentials. they have amazing offers and deliver at the earliest possible. love how every item i purchased was wrapped and sealed perfectly. last but not least, stay healthy, stay motivated, eat right 🙂
